D3 Go!, developer behind Marvel Puzzle Quest and Magic the Gathering Puzzle Quest, have announced a new project centering around the Alien franchise, titled Alien: Blackout.
As first reported by Variety, the game will place players in the role of Amanda Ripley aboard an alien infested Weyland-Yutani space station. Players must successfully guide their crew safely through the ship, avoiding the terror hunting them on board. D3 Go!’s official page for the game provides the following:
The terror of Alien is brought to life in Alien: Blackout. Try to stay alive while trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a deadly Xenomorph as it tirelessly hunts you and the crew. Outsmart the perfect hunter by making perilous choices. Players must rely on the damaged controls of the space station or risk sacrificing crew members to avoid deadly contact, permanently altering the outcome of the game.
Survive seven fear-inducing levels by remotely guiding Amanda Ripley’s crew through increasingly challenging tasks using only the station’s emergency systems. The uncertainty and unpredictability of both the alien and her crew can impose total defeat for Amanda and the entire station.
Alien: Blackout is a unique fear-inducing horror mobile game experience that will test the inner nerves of both Alien and horror fans alike, where life can end in an instant.
Leading up to the announcement, Alien‘s official Twitter account posted cryptic tweets alluding to a possible announcement surround the franchise relating to game, with the tagline “Read. Play. Watch.”. The account has also promoted the film series’s anthology set, leading many to believe that a possible comic or novel tie in will be announced next regarding the “Read” portion of the tag line.
A concrete release date has yet to be announced for Alien: Blackout. It is set to release on all major mobile platforms, including iOS App Store and Google Play.
