A wild and wonderful year of gaming is coming to a close, and with 2018 ending, that can only mean one thing: Awards season!

Geoff Keighley, creator and host of the fifth annual Game Awards show, has a released a video on the event’s YouTube page revealing the list of nominees, including those attempting to take the title of Game of the Year.

Those who were nominated for the Game of the Category include: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Celeste, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Monster Hunter: World, and Red Dead Redemption 2. For many, this year is considered to be one of the best years of the decade in terms of gaming releases, and it is nice to see a diverse catalogue be nominated this year. Sony continues to provide an impressive lineup of exclusive games again, with two games being PlayStation 4 exclusives: God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man. It is also nice to see representation from the independent crowd as well, with critically acclaimed, 2D platformer Celeste from Matt Makes Games be nominated for Game of the Year as well.
