After continuous rumors surrounding its release, it is now official: prepare to drop, PlayUnknown’s BattleGrounds is coming to PlayStation 4 on December 7th.
In a statement release via the PlayStation Blog today, Development Project Manager Joon H. Choi confirmed the big news that many fans have bene waiting and expecting to hear for over a year now. “Bringing PUBG to the PS4 has been an ambitious project for us, and we are beyond thrilled to finally be sharing this news with the world” Choi emphatically wrote on Tuesday morning.
The game will launch on December 7th, and will be available in both physical and digital formats. Digital owners will have a multitude of options when purchasing the game, including the following:
- Looter’s Digital Edition – $30 USD/$39 CAD, includes base game.
- Survivor’s Digital Edition – $50 USD/$64.99 CAD, includes base game, Vikendi Event Pass, 2,300 G-Coin Pack, 20,000 BP
- Champion’s Digital Edition – $60 USD/$77.99 CAD, includes base game, Vikendi Event Pass, 6,000 G-Coin Pack, 20,000 BP
Ahead of the game’s launch, PS4 owners will be able to receive pre-order bonuses, exclusive to Sony’s fourth generation system. Players will be able to represent two of PlayStation’s flagpole franchises in the battle royale shooter, by receiving both a Nathan Drake Desert Outfit and Ellie’s Backpack from Naughty Dog’s Uncharted and Last of Us series respectively. PUBG Corporation will also be offering a PUBG PlayStation Network avatar and theme for pre-ordering as well.
One of the pioneers of the battle royale genre, PlayerUnknown’s BattleGround (PUBG) has been one of the most popular games on the market since its release in March 2017 on PC. Last year marked the game’s first release on console, with a timed exclusivity contract with Microsoft for their family of Xbox One consoles.
